New Year, New Challenge, New Team!

We are excited to kick off a new year of aviation innovation with the X-1 Supersonic Flight Program! Our team is ready to design and build an aircraft capable of launching an autonomous X-1 test vehicle –  we can’t wait to take on this challenge.

The Mission

Our journey involves the following three key missions:

Mission 1 Delivery Flight:

We will test the basic capabilities of our aircraft by completing 3 laps within a 5-minute window, only carrying the crew onboard. A successful landing will complete the mission.

Mission 2 Captive Carry Flight:

This mission involves carrying the X-1 test vehicle and external fuel tanks as part of the payload. Our goal is to complete 3 laps within 5 minutes while maintaining stability and carrying the added weight as well. Precision and balance will be crucial.

Mission 3 Launch Flight:

The final mission brings out the full potential of our aircraft as we launch the X-1 test vehicle. After completing the first lap, we will release the glider and let it perform autonomously. Bonus points will be hopefully awarded by performing a precise, autonomous landing in a designated area.

The Goal

Our team is focused on balancing weight, flight time, and efficiency to optimize our design for each mission. With careful planning and precise execution, our goal is to make a lasting impact at the 29th DBF competition in Tucson, AZ, April 10–13, 2025.

We are excited to share our progress and push the boundaries of engineering and teamwork. Stay tuned for updates as we strive for success!
